
You can complete the Small Animal Massage Certification Program on-site in 7 months or 12 months, plus you now have the option of distance learning. The course concentration is on feline and canine massage. A variety of species are discussed in class.
The faculty includes a variety of professional disciplines including: Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, Licensed Massage Therapists and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioners.
Course length: 200 hours—161 in-class hours at BSMT, 39 hours in an off-campus internship
Distance course: 200 hours - 16 Distance Classes – 49 Hours, 32 Classes at BSMT - 112 Hours, 39 Hours Off-Campus Internship
Courses include: Small Animal Anatomy, Animal Behavior, Handling and Management, Animal Massage Techniques I and II, Passive Exercises, Animal First Aid and CPR, Business Practices/Ethics, Marketing, Internship, and more.
Admission requirements: High School Graduate or equivalent. Students may take BSMT's Small Animal Primer Course prior to admission to this course. The Primer Course will benefit students who have not been in a classroom setting for some time or who have no anatomy background.

12-month certificate program:
Classes run one weekend per month for 12 months. Start Date: January 15-16, 2011 End Date: December 3, 2011 Classes will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
Students come to Bancroft one weekend per month for 46 sessions of 3.5 hours each (morning session 9:00 to 12:30; afternooon session 1:30 to 5:00 = 4 sessions per weekend) and complete 39 hours of internship.
7-month certificate program:
Spring 2011 session:
Start date: Monday, March 14, 2011; End date: Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 Classes will be held on Mondays from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.
Students come to Bancroft once per week for 23 sessions of 7 hours each and complete 39 hours of internship.
Distance learning option:
Distance course material includes Online courses, BSMT handbooks, Anatomy workbook, and Anatomy Textbooks.
Requirements: Computer with speakers, internet and email access. Students must be able to access classes on-line.
Distance class for 2011 The at-home online classes open on April 11, 2011. The distance work must be completed by August 1. You will then travel to the school on the dates below to complete the hands-on portion of the classes.
Dates at BSMT: Aug. 15-20, 2011 Monday through Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Sept. 23-26, 2011 Friday through Monday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Nov. 7-12, 2011 Monday through Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Students complete 16 classes of instruction at home, taking tests and passing in assignments via an online learning system. The remaining 32 classes would be held on-site at Bancroft. 39 internship hours need to be completed between the end of the first in-house week and the beginning of the last in-house week.
